What Kind Of Difficulties Do Actors Usually Go Through That Most People Have No Idea?
Well, I’m an actor.
Do you know those scenes with the “blue screen,” in which we have to act with some character who is not there?
That’s right… That is not easy to do.
Because there is some subliminal communication between people. You know, with a look, what’s going on in the other person’s head. Want to see if a script was well written? See the actor’s reactions. You know that scene where the husband comes home happy telling about the baby stroller he bought and the woman looks terrible, but he keeps telling it as if he doesn’t notice her reaction until she says, “I lost the baby”? Yeah…
This “subliminal communication” is essential for performance.
It DEFINES performance.
It’s a game. You throw your emotions at the other person, and they give it back to you.
(Which is also a way of knew whether the actor is good or not; he must REACT the other’s emotion).
I’ll give you an example.
I once shooted advertising in Uruguay (I’m Brazilian). An actress and I stayed there for almost a week to record a five-second take at the door of a house.
