The Twin Sisters Who Share a Single Body
Or How Do Two Brains Command The Physiology Of A Body
Abigail and Brittany Hensel are Siamese Twins born with only one body.
Despite their appearance — the body is very symmetrical — internally, it is not quite like that: they have two hearts, two pairs of lungs, spinal cords, and stomachs. They unite, however, in the intestine, which is unique. From there down, it is a single body, a reproductive system only, and a “number two exit” only. Each “feels” only their body’s side.
Each controls an arm and a leg, which requires coordination; they need to use both brains to walk or drive, for example. But they can write independent things on their own or do other activities that don’t require coordination.
It is curious to know that there are two brains, that is, two people. They have different interests, with Abigail, the one on the right in the photo likes math, and Brittany enjoys English. Each graduated from other colleges, and today they work as teachers. BUT THEY EARN ONLY ONE SALARY, which made them mad.
