That was the worst Christmas of my life.

It was Zeca who decided to be my dog. He was my aunt’s, who lived in my building several floors above mine. As she worked with crafts and the house was full of objects with fresh paint, she asked me to take care of him during the day, and I did that.

Over time, Zeca no longer wanted to go up to her apartment.

And when she moved from here, he wanted to stay.

And he stayed.

When I took him to the vet, I found out that he had a birth heart problem. From what I was told, his…

How is it possible for a government to politicize health in such a shameful way?

Today, it was finally time for my comorbidity — being born in 1970 — and I was vaccinated at Club Athletico Paulistano, a place frequented by the elite here. Fortunately, it was a drive-thru, so I joined the line of cars.

In front of me, a beautiful black Range Rover.

I thought, “Yeah, I’m floating in the cream of society!”

The car’s owner, however, turned it off, got out, and closed it, running towards the first girl who coordinated the vaccination. I figured he had gone to ask for some information, and I waited. Thirty seconds later, he came back…

She looked like a child who had been given the Christmas present she wanted most!

Once I was auditioning for a TV commercial here in São Paulo. The scene involved a couple talking, and one of the girls who were there was assigned to act with me. She was a beautiful brunette with green eyes and white skin. She was twenty-four years old.

As we talked, I noticed her behavior changed. She started laughing at every word I said; taking my arm, she got agitated. I realized that she had taken an interest in me, but there was something different there… something naive, exaggerated, even childish.

Remember, the girl was twenty-four years old.

I, who…

For practically all my love life, I was always the one who took the initiative. I lost my inhibition very early, right after my first relationship, so the hits I received were scarce.

But there was a period when I was still getting used to “not being shy.”

And it was in this period that this story took place.

I was in Guarujá — a coastal city in the state of São Paulo, here in Brazil, where I live — hosted in a friend’s apartment. …

A simple opinion of someone who has loved a lot in life.

My first girlfriend has been dissected here on Medium countless times, but it’s important to highlight some aspects of dating to understand this “demand” issue.

This girl was one of the most wanted in my class. I was a quiet nerd who sat in the back of the classroom, more to hide than to mess around. She sat beside me.

I liked a girl who was in third high school — I was a second grader — and I didn’t dare to talk to her because of my shyness. …

Until the third year of elementary school, I studied at excellent schools, all of them very, very far from my home.

But the stress of spending two hours in the school van (I was the first to be picked up and the last to be delivered) began to take its toll. Finally, my mother gave in to my requests and placed me in a new school close to home.

However, the new school was of a much lower standard than the ones I used to attend. I didn’t feel stimulated to learn like the others, and my grades plummeted. …

How “no one” can change someone’s life

I only met my father when I was thirty-six years old. During childhood, the only thing I knew was that he was an architect, a former pilot of the Esquadrilha da Fumaça (Brazilian’s Blue Angels), and he had a notebook he never let go of:

In fairness, my mother didn’t tell him she got pregnant. She moved from Rio de Janeiro, where my father lived, and I was born in São Paulo. He didn’t know about me until I was five years old. …

Well… He’s a murder suspect, but that doesn’t take my credit, does it?

I had a privileged childhood. My mom was never rich, but she spent what she could and couldn’t on my education. Because of this, I ended up attending elite schools in São Paulo; that is, my friends were always much richer than me.

I never felt wronged or revolted for not having the things they had. Somehow I understood that my mom had less money, and that was okay. Nobody ever treated me with condescension, I was never called poor or anything like that, and my friends loved to spend their vacations in my simple, no-frills apartment.

One day one…

And I thought I was the smart one in this story…

I moved into the building where I grew up and became an adult, when I was two years old.

That means that I saw my childhood friends growing up with me until we became men and women.

For a child, this can be a bit confusing

For a child, this can be a bit confusing; after all, a slight age difference of two or three years creates an entirely different category of friends who can’t play ball or dodgeball with us because they can get hurt.

As I got older and started to be interested in girls, the ones that…

This man had everything to hate me, and yet he adored me!

I wasn’t an amiable kid…

In fact, I was a bully.

Inside the building where I lived — and still do, now in a different apartment — I used to boss all the kids. As I was very creative, I always invented all the games we would do and, because of that, my little friends obeyed me (otherwise, I wouldn’t let them in).

One of the things we did a lot was playing volleyball. I took volleyball lessons at school — where I was a nerd huddled in the back of the class — and, as I learned the basics…
